Bituminous Black Paint

SSI Anti corrosive Paints is a single pack, solvent based, general purpose non-toxic, lead free & unpigmented bitumen-based coating that provides economical protection of steel and masonry. When dry, the product forms an odourless and taint free bitumen film suitable for the protection of metals, concrete from corrosion of acid and alkali attack.

Product Information

Form, Colour	Black, smooth liquid
Handling & Storage	The material must be stored in a shaded area with minimum exposure to sunlight and UV. The containers should be protected from all sources of heat, ignition & extreme cold.
Packaging	Available in 1 L, 4 L, 20 L and 200 L drum.
Shelf Life	12 months when stored in unopened sealed conditions away from heat and sunlight.
Handling Precautions	As with all chemical products, care should be taken during use and storage to avoid contact with eyes, mouth, skin and foodstuffs. Treat splashes to eyes and skin immediately. If accidentally ingested, seek immediate medical attention. Keep away from children and animals. Reseal containers after use.

The paint should conform to IS 158: 1981 with current amendments in general and to the special specifications indicated hereunder:

i) Stoving Temperature : 110 Degrees C (Approx)
ii) Stoving Time : 5 Minutes
iii) Flash Point : Not less than 95 degrees F ( 35 Degrees C )
iv) Volatiles : Paint to have quick solvent release characteristics as Flash off time is limited to one minute. Total volatiles not to exceed 52 %.
v) Spraying Viscosity : 30 to 40 seconds at 30 Degrees C (Ford Cup test) Ford Cup 4
vi) Mass in Kg/10 Litre : 8.5 +/- 3%
vii) Composition : Bitumen Based paint
viii) Application : The paint shall be applied directly on the bare drum metal. Paint must be suitable for cold application by manual/pneumatic/automatic spray guns.
ix) Performance : The paint must not remain tacky after the drum leaves the drying oven. It must give long protection to drums.

Field of Application

• Can be recommended for industrial pipelines, conduit pipes and other metallic / concrete (above and below ground) structures.
• It can also be used for general purposes for protection of water tanks, equipment, machines, etc.
